Heavy Duty Racking

Our Heavy Duty Racking systems come with fully modular, extra-long shelving options, accommodating continuous spans of up to 3300 mm. This makes them ideal for manual storage and handling of large, heavy items. To create a custom shelving setup, simply use 2 frames and 2 or more shelves to form a single shelving bay. Expand your storage capabilities by adding more shelves and frames as needed.

The frames and shelves of our Heavy Duty Racking are available in a standard 1200 mm depth, with a 600 mm depth option also available separately. This modularity allows you to tailor your racking system precisely to your storage requirements.

FAQ

Medium to Heavy-Duty Racking Systems are widely utilized across industries such as manufacturing, logistics, automotive, eCommerce, and retail. These systems are designed to handle high-weight loads and maximize vertical space. For instance, in automotive industries, racks are engineered to support heavy vehicle components, while in eCommerce, racking systems store large volumes of products that need easy access. The robust load-bearing capabilities (up to 3,000 kg per level) make these systems ideal for such demanding applications. Additionally, the racking is designed with adjustable beams to accommodate various product sizes and optimize space usage.

While Medium to Heavy-Duty Racking Systems typically involve higher initial costs, they offer greater long-term cost savings due to their ability to support higher weight loads, reducing the need for additional storage units. For example, a heavy-duty rack capable of holding up to 3,000 kg per level allows for better space optimization by accommodating bulkier items. Additionally, the durability of these systems—often constructed from high-strength steel and equipped with safety features like safety clips and steel decking—ensures a longer service life, making them more cost-effective for businesses with high-density storage needs.

Yes, Medium to Heavy-Duty Racking Systems are designed with flexibility in mind. The modular design allows for quick reconfiguration or relocation to accommodate changing storage needs. Beams are typically adjustable in 50mm increments, allowing easy modifications to the shelving height. For instance, heavy-duty racks may feature stamped-steel beams with high-visibility orange finishes, which can be detached and adjusted with minimal tools. However, for large-scale systems, it’s advisable to consult with professional installation teams to ensure the system is properly dismantled and reassembled without compromising structural integrity.

Ensuring the safety of Medium to Heavy-Duty Racking Systems requires a combination of design features and operational best practices. Technically, the racking should be anchored to the warehouse floor, especially for systems supporting high loads, to prevent tipping or swaying. Safety clips on beam connectors are essential for locking the beams in place to prevent accidental dislodging. Additionally, racking systems should include steel deck supports to prevent localized distortion under heavy load. Periodic inspections should check for issues like bent beams, worn-out safety clips, or overloaded shelves. Properly training staff on load distribution and the maximum weight limits (e.g., up to 3,000 kg per level) is also crucial.

The environmental conditions within a warehouse can significantly impact the longevity and performance of racking systems. For example, high humidity levels can accelerate corrosion, particularly in metal components. To mitigate this, many Heavy-Duty Racking Systems are available with galvanized steel components or moisture-resistant coatings. Steel beams may also feature powder-coated finishes to provide additional protection against environmental wear. In extreme conditions, such as cold storage, the material selection and structural design of the racks (e.g., thicker gauge steel or enhanced corrosion resistance) must be chosen to withstand temperature fluctuations and prevent material degradation over time.
